Welcome at the Multimedia Information Systems Group (MIS) 

The research activities of the group focus on semantics in multimedia information systems and special topics in IT-security. The group is involved in several national and international projects. Some recent project highlights are:

Logo not released yet   MEKETRE - The Evolution of Scene Content in the Middle Kingdom Tombs



MEKETRE, an interdisciplinary project funded by the FWF between the University of Viennaʼs Egyptology and Computer Science departments will run from late 2009 until late 2012. The technical focus will be on making the multimedia content available as Linked Data on the Web. → Project details.
     
 

Research Studio Digital Memory Engineering (RS-DME)



In work package 2 of the Research Studio Digital Memory Engineering Project, the University of Vienna investigates the long-term digital preservation of data created by Web 2.0 applications and Wikis in particular. → Project details.

     
Europeana Logo   EuropeanaConnect



EuropeanaConnect is a Best Practice Network funded by the European Commission within the area of Digital Libraries of the eContentplus Programme. Its overall objective is to develop key components for the enhancement and improvement of Europeana, the European Digital Library.   MobiSem - Offline Availability for RDF Repositories



MobiSem is a FIT-IT founded research project aiming to investigate technologies and algorithms for the offline availability of RDF repositories in mobile environments. → Project details.
     
  PROLIX - PROcess-oriented Learning and Information eXchange



This Integrated Project in the 6th EU Framework Programme aims at the development of an open reference architecture for process-oriented learning and information exchange. → Project Details.
     
  SemDAV - Semantic Enrichment of the WebDAV Protocol



This FIT-IT project researches on basic technologies that enable the creation of systems for semantically-enabled information management, both on the personal desktop and in collaborative work environments. → Project details.

     
   

BRICKS - Building Resources for Integrated Cultural Knowledge Services



This Integrated Project in the 6th EU FP aims at the development of a European-wide peer-to-peer network that makes available digital cultural content and services. →

    MobiLearn -  Medieninformatik Any-Time Any-Where



The project developed eLearning modules in the domain of "Medieninformatik" and constitutes one of the most significant efforts in this field, jointly carried out by a consortium of Austrian universities. →
